Great news from Suzie!

I just talked to Suzie and she just got the test results back after her last chemo and the news was really great. The test is the CA125. After first chemo it was 310, after second chemo 99, after third chemo 16.6 and after the last one it's down to 13!!!!! The Dr. is really pleased and said her prognosis was good!!! Isn't that fabulous? She even played a little golf recently which I think is really neat!

I'm going to include a picture Susie sent me of the first time she wore her new wig and an e-mail she sent us also.

When I had dinner with Suzie a week ago the one thing she was really amazed about was the fact that she was still receiving cards and letters daily from people which she really appreciates so just wanted you all to know how much she loves it!

Tracey and Kendra are coming to visit this weekend and bringing Jackson for some Grandma time and Susie is going to drive down for brunch Sat. so she can see him too.

Hello Everyone, Just a quick update on my progress. I am having two weeks of good days and then just one week—the week after chemo---of bad days. On those days I have severe joint pain and muscle aches, a quezzy stomach and absolutely no energy. But then 5-6 days later I wake up and feel much better. So if the chemo is working I’m happy. For awhile I thought I would never feel this good ever again.
I have three more big chemo treatments and then we’ll see what happens.

Friends here have been great sending meals and trying to do for me. Kitty is great at rubbing feet and legs and arms.

Thanks for all the prayers, cards and concern. I know your prayers are being heard and that is why I am doing so well. I’ll be ready for next year at the B&B. I appreciated the call while you all were together at Pam’s---almost made me feel like I was there----love the gifts.

Short update on Suzie

Sorry it's been so long since we've updated you. I went to Boston last week for work and Kris drove back to Sioux City (I of course miss her like crazy). After returning home I got either a cold or allergies and didn't want to expose Suzie so I haven't seen her for awhile. I talked to her today and she had just been home a few hours and was resting after her 3rd chemo. She said she had been feeling pretty well recently and will call me when she feels like company so I'll update again after I see her.
I'm hoping she will feel well enough to go to the American Idol concert Aug. 18th so keep your fingers crossed.

The Color Purple

We had a purplelicious weekend! On Sat. when Kris was finally feeling better (she stayed home sick Friday and slept most of the day) we made a decision!!!!!! to see if we could get tickets to the musical at the beautiful Fox Theatre. It was "Oprah Winfrey presents The Color Purple" and since we loved the movie we thought we'd enjoy it. Ever since I've been in Atlanta I've been telling Kris I'd take her to the Fabulous Fox Theater but we usually procrastinate but we decided that if there were still tickets available it was meant to be that we go and good news we got tickets in the 5th row! The production was amazing, the costumes were so colorful and the music unbelievable!!! If you have a chance to see it do.
We had called Susie Sat. to see how she was doing and she sounded great. She had her 2nd round of chemo on Friday so we were concerned that she wouldn't be feeling very well but she said they didn't have to give her some shot she'd had last time so she thought that may have made the difference. We couldn't visit her because Kris had been sick so I hope we'll be able to see her this week since she leaves Sat. to go back home and I leave for a conference in Boston the same day.

Swimming after work

We had a wonderful evening after work. We went to the pool, splashed around a bit, read a bit, quaffed a few, but sorry NO PICTURES today!

We're thinking about you Suzie and praying that the next chemo won't be quite as difficult.

We composed a poem at work today when we handed out the prizes for the potluck you may enjoy this (we certainly did):

Yummy yummy in our tummies
We thought picnic food was crummy

But you proved that we were dummies
Thinking that picnic food was crummy

Mother would be so proud!

Grandson love

We just got a darling picture of Logan (Kris' grandson) in the Buddy Holly glasses we got in Clear Lake at our reunion.

I of course have to add a cute picture I took of Jackson (my grandson) but this is not a competion because we both know we have the cutest grandsons.

We were waiting for a picture of Jake's new grandson but except for the one Missy sent to our cell phones we haven't gotten any. Maybe this will get us one.

Suzie called yesterday while she was on her way home from learning how to do her make up and add her eyebrows etc. after she loses them and she said she had been the model for the demonstration. She said she had more make up on than she'd ever had in her life. I was so impressed because she drove herself down.

I'm anxious to know what Scott thought. We were sorry we wern't there to take pictures.

We are keeping Kris busy at CoreNet so I'm glad she's here.

What a day! Kris Kitty and Suzie's Big adventure!

Kris and I had the privilege of going with Suzie to get her new short haircut and beautiful new wig. Suzie is feeling much better and we had a wonderful time and a delicious lunch of sushi afterwards.What seemed like something scary turned in to a fun girlfriend outing. The gals at the Women's Center were so professional that we were all immediately at ease and the buzz cut was over before we had a chance to worry about it then they put Suzie’s new wig on which was exactly the came color as her hair so it looked totally natural. The stylist started to style it in an attractive new style and we all relaxed and enjoyed the morning. The stylist kept it a little longer than we all thought it should be but she wasn't sure how short it would get after she styled it a bit. Suzie has 2 weeks to get it cut shorter if she wants to and I think she will. They also showed us all kinds of scarfs and hats that were available if she wants them with and without hair. We took several pictures of our adventure and on the way home enjoyed a fabulous lunch of sushi.
We were both amazed that even after her head was shaved she was still just as beautiful as she's always been as you can see in the pictures.

Suzie sends everyone her love and is grateful for all the special cards she's received. We told her and we know it's because she's such a special person!
